More than half of all Harris County residents will be affected in some way by our family courts. It may be through a personal experience with divorce, a child custody dispute or child support case, or that of a friend, family member or co-worker.
Family law courts are mostly about conflict, broken relationships and loss. People who come to family court are emotionally tortured, and this Court needs a knowledgeable judge, capable of handling their issues.
As the mother of 3 teenagers and a lawyer who has mediated nearly 3,000 family law cases, I understand family conflict, and I have the training and experience to be the next judge of the 245th Family District Court.
Although I was licensed to practice law since 1980 and worked in a general law practice, dealing with everything from sales of companies to criminal law matters, I found my calling to be family law, which I‘ve practiced exclusively for over 20 years. A Board Certified Family Law Specialist since 1991, I’ve tried jury and non-jury cases, handled appeals, and served as an associate family law judge and a mediator.
I have lived on the southeast side of Houston for more than thirty years, where I married Alan Pyle in 1981. Our three children attend public school and have played sports in the Clear Creek District, and our family has been involved in area church and community activities.
I believe that children are our most valuable resource. I pledge to make it one of my paramount responsibilities to ensure that our children receive the financial, educational and emotional support they deserve.
I intend to utilize one of the free monitoring and enforcement programs, utilized by every other family court in Harris County, to improve the collection of support.
Child support can make a difference in several ways: a child may stay in school instead of going to work to support the family, a parent may not need to work 2 or 3 jobs to make ends meet, it may mean a parent can be available to supervise children and see that homework is done.
As the judge of the 245th Family District Court, I pledge to bring fairness and equality to all litigants, and to do my best to make things better for our children.
